58th Annual Garden City Downtown Development Authority Santaland Parade to Celebrate an Ugly Sweater Christmas

The holiday season may be months away, but it's not too early to start planning for the 2018 Garden City Downtown Development Authority Santaland Parade. The theme of the 58th annual parade is a
an Ugly Sweater Christmas.   Participants are urged to incorporate this theme when designing their entries. You can already register to be in this year's parade.  Participation forms can be found online by visiting the parade website here.

The parade begins at Garden City High School, travels south on Middlebelt, east on Ford and ends on Central.  The Garden City Downtown Development Authority will again be the title sponsor.

For the second year, along with the performance area for TV in front of City Hall, there will be a second performance area in front of the DDA office on Ford juts east of Middlebelt with music, entertainment and more.

The parade will be shown live locally on GCTV (channel 12 on Comcast, channel 18 on WOW and channel 99 on Uverse) and will also be streamed live around the world to Facebook (City of Garden City, Michigan) and
to YouTube (GCTVHD).

The parade committee is kicking off it's sponsorship campaign for 2018.  The parade is run entirely with donations and the support of the business community in southeastern Michigan has been amazing.  Information about becoming a sponsor is available here.

The first Santaland Parade was in 1961 and put on by the Garden City Jaycees. Currently the parade is run by a volunteer committee that is a part of the Garden City Community Coalition. The day of the parade, over a hundred volunteers are used to handle staging, the parade itself, television production and any other elements of the parade’s operation.
